TESCAN XRE (TXRE), based in Ghent, Belgium, is Tescan Group’s Business Unit dedicated to tomography and related MicroCT products (DynaTom, UniTOM XL, UniTOM HR, CoreTOM…). We develop cutting-edge non-destructive 3D investigation technologies and actively contribute to advancing the state of the art on these subjects.
The Application team is responsible for carrying out customer demonstrations and demonstrating the added value of our equipment in relation to the technical challenges they wish to address. They are also on hand to discover new applications and participate in the necessary evolution of our equipment to address new market needs.
We are currently seeking a highly motivated R&D Application Engineer. This person will collaborate closely with other R&D departments and internal teams as well as world top research centres.
S/he will participate in the development and testing of innovative devices and procedures tailored to the customer’s needs. This position is suitable for junior applicants.
In this position, you will
- Perform application tests for research & development, create application notes for R&D and customers.
- Perform experimental testing and verification of physical functions of micro-CT systems.
- Create application sheets and methods.
- Optimize application workflows.
- Validate new SW/HW features.
- Collaborate with other development teams such as Software, System engineering and Mechanical team to support development of new applications.
- Provide feedback on tested workflows/features to R&D.
- Handover of new features/modules to Application department.
- Providing/gathering materials for technical writer.
- Testing 3rd party subsystems and accessories.
- Keep track of service escalations.
An ideal candidate will have
- Degree in Industrial engineering, Materials science, Chemistry, Physics, computer science or related.
- Knowledge of advanced technology and diagnostics as well as operational experience with various analytical equipment.
- Ability to absorb detailed technical information and recent advances in the field.
- Basic programming skills are welcome (Pyhon,….).
- Strong communicative skills (both verbal and written).
- Focus on result, ability to work under pressure.
- Work independently as well as in a team.
- Language skills: English B2 or higher.
