In October, Brno hosted the 11th edition of the Autumn School of Electron Microscopy (ASEM 2024). This prestigious event, organized by the Institute of Scientific Instruments of the Czech Academy of Sciences (ISI CAS), is primarily intended for postgraduate students and early-career researchers working in the field of electron microscopy or using electron microscopes in their research. TESCAN is once again a proud sponsor of this event.
This year’s edition welcomed 150 participants to a rich program comprising morning lectures and afternoon hands-on sessions in laboratories. Attendees had the opportunity to gain insights into the latest advancements in electron microscopy and work with state-of-the-art instruments. Among the program’s highlights was the participation of TESCAN’s representative, Tomáš Šamořil.
The Autumn School of Electron Microscopy has been held in Brno since 2003, taking place every two years. It operates under the auspices of Eva Zažímalová, President of the Czech Academy of Sciences; Jan Grolich, Governor of the South Moravian Region; and Markéta Vaňková, Mayor of the City of Brno. This year, TESCAN once again opened its laboratories to ASEM visitors, offering engaging demonstrations.
At TESCAN, support for education is not only a priority internally through training programs but also externally at industry events. Our colleagues regularly participate in initiatives like the Autumn School of Electron Microscopy in addition to the wide range of internal training and development programs we offer.
This year, 14 TESCAN colleagues attended ASEM, where they appreciated not only the high professional quality of the lectures and hands-on exercises but also the opportunity to network and share experiences with other experts in the field. Once again, the Autumn School of Electron Microscopy has reaffirmed its position as a key educational event in the world of electron microscopy.
